Alberta holds two draws

Alberta Conducts Two New AAIP Draws in May 2025: 158 Candidates Invited

Alberta has issued a total of 158 invitations to apply for provincial nomination through two separate rounds of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) in May 2025. These draws were conducted under two distinct streams — the Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) and the Tourism and Hospitality Stream, aimed at addressing the province’s workforce needs in key sectors.

These latest draws reinforce Alberta’s ongoing commitment to bringing in skilled individuals who are already contributing to the province’s economy or who possess in-demand skills.

📌 Are You Eligible for Alberta PNP?

If you’re working in Alberta or have experience in an occupation that the province is targeting, you may qualify for nomination under the AAIP. Alberta offers several immigration options tailored for foreign workers in skilled trades, hospitality, tourism, and more.

🏨 About the Tourism and Hospitality Stream

The Tourism and Hospitality Stream was introduced in 2024 to support Alberta’s service sector businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and tourism companies, which continue to face labour shortages.

🔍 Who Can Apply?

Applicants must:

  • Have at least 6 months of employment with a qualifying tourism or hospitality business in Alberta.
  • Hold a valid full-time job offer from an eligible Alberta-based employer.
  • Meet the program’s minimum education and language proficiency requirements.

This is the second time in 2025 that Alberta has issued invitations under this specific stream, showing its sustained focus on the hospitality and tourism sector.

🔧 Alberta Opportunity Stream: Supporting Skilled Talent in the Province

The May 13 draw under the Alberta Opportunity Stream marks the second general draw of 2025. This stream supports foreign workers already living and working in Alberta across various sectors such as construction, aviation, and general trades.

With more relaxed eligibility conditions and a high nomination approval rate, the AOS is ideal for skilled individuals who are helping drive Alberta’s economic growth.

📊 2025 AAIP Allocations and EOI Overview

In 2025, Alberta was granted 4,875 nomination spaces by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). So far, 2,077 of these spaces have been filled.

Here’s how the current numbers look for each stream:

AAIP Stream2025 Nomination QuotaRemaining Nomination SpacesEOIs Submitted
Tourism and Hospitality Stream2451225,755
Alberta Opportunity Stream2,5921,37637,934

These figures highlight the competitive nature of the AOS, where the number of EOIs vastly exceeds the available nomination spaces.

🎯 What Happens After an Invitation?

Candidates who receive an AAIP invitation can proceed to apply for a provincial nomination. Once nominated, Express Entry candidates gain an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, making them highly likely to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.

Those applying outside the Express Entry system can still use the nomination to apply directly to IRCC for permanent residence under a base PNP stream.

🏅 Why Choose Alberta for Your Immigration Journey?

Alberta continues to be a top choice for foreign workers aiming to settle in Canada, thanks to its:

  • Stable economy and job opportunities across multiple industries
  • Streamlined immigration pathways through AAIP
  • High demand for workers in both skilled trades and service industries

Whether you’re a chef, housekeeper, welder, or flight technician, Alberta offers multiple avenues to secure permanent residency in Canada.
