International Skilled Worker:

Occupations In -Demand

Overview

The International Skilled Worker: Occupations In-Demand sub-category under the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is designed to attract skilled workers whose expertise is urgently needed in the province. This program provides a pathway for eligible international workers to gain Canadian permanent residency, even without a job offer. Candidates must possess a post-secondary education, relevant work experience, and demonstrate language proficiency in English or French. By meeting the eligibility requirements and scoring at least 60 points on the SINP Points Assessment Grid, applicants can secure a provincial nomination. This nomination supports their application for permanent residency through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), helping to address labor shortages and contribute to the economic growth of Saskatchewan.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the International Skilled Worker: Occupations In-Demand sub-category, you must pay a non-refundable $350 application fee online using Visa or Mastercard. This fee is the final step before submitting your application.

You may qualify if you meet the following criteria:

  • Residency Status: You either live outside of Canada or have proof of legal status in Canada.
  • Refugee Status: You are not a refugee claimant.
  • Points Assessment: You score a minimum of 60 points out of 110 on the SINP point assessment grid.
  • Language Proficiency: You have a language score of at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4. Some employers may require higher scores.
  • Education: You have completed post-secondary education, training, or apprenticeship comparable to Canadian standards, earning a diploma, certificate, or degree related to your intended occupation. Check the “Employment Requirements” section of your National Occupation Code profile to ensure your education aligns with your intended occupation. For education outside Canada, submit an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from a designated organization (see IRCC’s list of approved organizations). Individuals who completed trades or job training as part of high school must apply for Saskatchewan licensure (see Regulated Occupations and Licensing Requirements).
  • Work Experience: You have a minimum of one year of full-time (at least 30 hours per week) paid work experience in a skilled occupation within the past ten years, related to your field of education. Your work experience must be in a high-skilled occupation (TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3) that is in-demand in Saskatchewan at the time of application. Ensure your work experience aligns with your occupation and education (see SINP Requirements Related to Professional Status or Licensure for more information). You may need to provide proof of professional status or eligibility for licensure.
  • Documentation: You include all required documents in your application. Incomplete applications will be returned, and the application fee will not be refunded.
  • Settlement Funds and Plan: You have proof of settlement funds and a settlement plan.

To apply for this sub-category, you must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Successful EOI submissions enter a pool of eligible candidates, but not all will be invited to apply to the SINP.

The likelihood of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) depends on your EOI profile score. Higher-scoring candidates have a greater chance of receiving an ITA. Upon receiving an ITA, you must provide proof to support the points claimed in your EOI. To remain eligible for a nomination, you must meet the minimum points score of the EOI selection through which you received your ITA.

If there are grounds to believe that an applicant or their representative provided false information to enhance their points score, the Program Integrity Unit (PIU) will investigate for misrepresentation. If misrepresentation is confirmed, the applicant may be barred from using the SINP for two years or more in the case of repeat offenses.
